CROC has started a project to convert 122 boiler plants so as to allow them to use more eco-friendly gas fuel instead of solid and liquid fuels. As part of the contract, worth RUB380 million, CROC will offer both its technical competencies and a convenient payment scheme, with no prepayment needed to get started.
In January 2017, CROC and the Volgograd Region Energy Committee signed a contract for 122 boiler plants to be renovated as part of gas infrastructure development in the Volgograd Region. Thanks to the project, gas heating will become available to the main social infrastructure facilities in the region, including schools, daycare centers, village recreation centers, community clubs, and healthcare institutions. The customer and members of the public can track work progress using CROC’s interactive map, which displays up-to-date information for each site.
"Solid fuels not only pollute air, soil, and groundwater, but also degrade boiler plant performance, thus increasing the cost of heating for citizens. In 2017, gas heating will be available for 65% of consumers in the Volgograd Region, thus improving heating provision and, in some cases, lowering utility bills," said Olga Begunkova, Deputy Chairperson of the Volgograd Region Construction Committee.
CROC will complete all the work (renovation and gas fuel adoption at 122 boiler plants) on a tight schedule by early winter season of 2017 and will use its own funds to start the project.
"After completing many projects for public utilities, we have realized that this sector stands out for its huge scope of work and low budgets. Therefore, CROC has been providing public utilities with special contract terms, such as starting work without any prepayment and then paying in installments, as in the case of a boiler plant upgrade in the urban community of Srednyaya Akhtuba in 2015. This installment-based approach accelerates boiler plant renovation and makes heat supply for individuals and organizations more efficient. I believe that such flexibility in the public utility sector represents our competitive advantage," noted Alexander Shirokov, Director of Intelligent Building Department, CROC.
To cover all 120+ sites dispersed across the Volgograd Region, CROC created an interactive map, thus streamlining communication between the customer and contractor and improving work efficiency, which is particularly important for large-scale projects to be performed within a tight timeframe. The map is available online for not only the regional administration, but also citizens. By clicking on a selected boiler plant, a visitor opens a page displaying publicly available site information and current work status.
"Although the Russian Government strictly supervises gas infrastructure development in the region, it is consumers who are mostly interested in the project. The interactive map will enable Volgograd Region citizens to track the progress of site renovation performed by CROC and assess both the performance of municipal authorities and site readiness for the winter season," added Olga Begunkova, Deputy Chairperson of the Volgograd Region Construction Committee.
